“Less than halfway through the session, the (XLV) health care exchange-traded fund is seeing call volume that is 11 times its total daily average. The Heathcare SPDR Fund has averaged total option volume of 8,000 contracts for a full session in the last month, but more than 100,000 have already traded by late morning. Some 95 percent of those options are calls,” Option Monster Reports.

They go on to say, “One trade in particular dominates this activity: 40,000 March 32 calls going for $0.10 and 40,000 April 32 calls for $0.50 in quick succession. The open interests were 78,550 and 274 respectively, leading me to believe that this was a roll from March out to April.”

“The (XLV) trades at $32.06, down fractionally on the day but still trending higher from support levels around $30.50. Unlike the broader markets, however, the ETF has yet to regain its 52-week high of $33.16 set on Jan. 21,” Option Monster Reports.

The investment (XLV) includes companies from the following industries: health care equipment and supplies, health care providers and services, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. This fund will normally invest at least 95% of its total assets in common stocks that comprise the relevant Select Sector Index. It has also adopted a policy that requires it to provide shareholders with at least 60 days notice prior to any significant material change in a its policy or its underlying index. It is nondiversified.
