Apple Inc. (AAPL): Can The Stock Recover With Stiffer Competition?

March 19th, 2013

buyers and sellersSamsung launched its latest salvo against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in the ongoing war for global smartphone dominance last Thursday. And with BlackBerry’s new product, analysts are divided on where Apple shares go from here.

The new Samsung Galaxy S4 boasts a five-inch screen compared to the iPhone’s four-inch display and the “Air Gesture,” feature allows users to navigate their phone without actually touching the device.

“The fact of the matter is Samsung is coming out with new products more frequently than Apple is and that consequently has led to a significant advantage that Samsung has built upon given strong execution,” David Garrity of GVA Research said in a CNBC interview.

    Apple’s problems come from a lack of diversification. There is only so much an old gadget like the iPhone can be improved in the current shape, and they have already done it before, They also need to enter and compete in new fields, as described in http://www.stock-bond.com/aapl_invest.html

    If the next iPhone still has a 4 inch screen, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 will be king.

    Apple dominates in America, but not so much on the world stage which is of much larger importance to share prices and the company. Most of Europe is in a double dip recession or worse, jobs are scarce and getting a 2 year phone contract is a scary thought, especially if you have to pay up to £239 upfront for the iphone 5 32gb and then a higher monthly fee , when Samsung S2 and S3, HTC One, Sony xperia Z have no upfront cost, or less than £30 for the newest models with a lower monthly fee. I know in America every other person has an apple phone, on average here only 1 in 10 has an apple phone everyone else has samsung, htc, sony or other android phones. Not one of them ever says it doesn’t do what they want it to do, because most people play a few games, use a couple of apps, facebook/twitter/email and send texts or make calls. Quality and features are not as important to most people, as after all it is only just a phone, and eating, buying petrol, and paying the bills in hard times is more vital.
    Everyone wants to drink Veuve Clicquot champagne at £150 a bottle, but you can get just as drunk from a £5 bottle of wine. Some people will only ever drink champagne and look at those that don’t with contemptuous distasteful eyes. This is how it feels with ios vs android, and reminds me of the joke;
    Q. How do you know if someone has an iphone?
    A. They tell you.

    Negative comments about everyone except apple on every news article makes you seem desperate and needy like a child with ADHD. Stop drinking the memory water it doesn’t work.
