Futures are pointing to a weak open as numbers out of China continue to point to a hard landing and Spanish yields close in on historic highs. The 10-year yield climbed above 7%, whcih pretty much priced them out of the private market. Why would the Read more…

(NYSE:SPY) premarket went as low as $119.15- which was around the low from last Thursday that held at$ 119. I scooped up some small SPY below 119.50 premarket. Will trade it vs. the premarket low. (NYSE:BAC) and (NYSE:GS) are now up! See if they can hold. If they do, this can be a good for the indices. GS above $98.50 is a big victory, if it can hold for more than 60minutes perhaps it gets frisky. I also scooped some (NYSE:XLF) Read more…

Some headlines of Bold Action in Europe, and a bit of a compromise in Washington, are helping the futures and the markets this morning. This up open is nice follow through for those who went out long, based on yesterday’s strength. Some nice follow through to all those 80-20 Red Dog Reversals that we saw in many sectors across the board. Yesterday we outlined micro strategies to be long for “cash flow” and sometimes you can Read more…

S&P futures are up 7-9 handles this morning, going for the 4th day of this rally. There isn’t much new to report on the news front, which is probably why the futures are higher. Overseas markets followed the US gains, and there are no new developments in the Greek debt saga. S&P resistance to watch if we can get there stands at 1198-1202, and then the recent highs of this Read more…

Markets opened higher and the SPX hit 1180, just below the next big resistance area of 1184-1187. Trading back below yesterday’s high of 1176 is a short-term sell signal, or a signal to take some profits if you’ve been trying to trail this 3 day move from Read more…

Usually, violent storms don’t just go away! There usually is a pause or an eye before the violence continues. I would not chase higher prices in this turbulent makret, but since we had such a big move lower there is still room to churn higher. You don’t have to trade the noise, simply wait for more Read more…

After a 17-20% move off the highs for most indices that market finally had a big reversal day yesterday. This morning it appears we are set for a down open as we digest yesterday’s big swing. A technical outside day where we made new lows on the year and then closed on the highs should still lead to some higher prices in the near future if this market has any juice. That can be considered Day 1 of a new attempted rally, and the action over Read more…

US stock futures point to a higher open Tuesday despite the ongoing Washington Circus. Politicians care more about what they say on record vs. the good of the American people. The longer this goes, the less credibility we will salvage on the Read more…

Indices opened higher yesterday after a nice three-day move from $129.63 to about $133.15 yesterday, then slowly traded a bit lower for an inside day. Some leading stocks had some exhaustion gaps that normally lead to a new base, including VMWare, Inc. (NYSE:VMW), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Wynn Resorts Limited (NASDAQ:WYNN). It’s normal for these types of stocks to run into earnings and then Read more…

US stock futures are set for a higher open Wednesday morning on the heels of a blockbuster earnings report from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The tech giant greatly exceeded even lofty consensus estimates from Wall St, thanks in large part to tremendous iPad and iPhone sales. The stock is currently set to open up around $400, up 6% from yesterday’s close. Strength from the market leader provides Read more…

S&P futures are down about 10 handles this morning as we come into the crucial area that must hold for the bears to maintain much hope for the short-term. After a choppy week with mixed action, we will get some key earnings from some more banks and momentum names this week. The tech sector got a big boost last week from Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) earnings, which blew out estimates, sending the Read more…

Markets opened sharply lower yesterday and really never looked back. Some strong stocks tried to hold higher like Friday but it felt different; they couldn’t absorb the pressure. SPYs tried to hold the 50day moving average “zone” around $131.80-132.10. They took out this area last night and we are set to open about 12-14 handles lower as the Read more…

US stock futures point to a lower open Monday following another constructive week for the market. Despite a crumbling Eurozone and a dismal labor market in the United States, stocks have rebounded remarkably over the last two weeks. With QE2 over, the surge is either a reflection of the opinion that economic activity is close to picking up, or that some version of QE3 is coming. Not much resolved was Read more…
