(Marketwire)–Barclays Global Investors, N.A. (BGI), the world’s largest Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) provider(1), announced today that the industry’s first ETF Managed Solutions Guide’s next quarterly edition will be published online. It is a valuable resource for financial advisors in identifying third-party managers (TPMs) who offer model portfolios that have a significant ETF allocation. Qualified financial professionals can obtain access to the Guide by calling 1-800-iShares or by calling their local iShares Business Development partners. In conjunction with the launch of the latest edition, iShares is sponsoring the first ETF Managed Solutions Conference on October 10, 2009, at the Anaheim Convention Center, as a pre-conference to FPA Anaheim 2009.
“The first edition of the ETF Managed Solutions Guide released in March was the answer for many financial advisors. We’re pleased to quickly expand the Guide and publish it online, making it an even more essential tool for financial advisors who are helping their clients navigate these turbulent markets,” said Sue Thompson, managing director, head of iShares Registered Investment Advisor Business at BGI. “For those advisors whose key value proposition is manager selection, this resource has proven a valuable addition to their practice. It has opened up a new world of asset managers, who are adding alpha through the use of beta products, and the Guide gives advisors a way to jump start their due diligence process.”
The new edition of the ETF Managed Solutions Guide includes 60 third-party managers and iShares expects to add more TPMs in each quarterly edition as more managers build these innovative portfolios. The Guide provides information on each firm’s philosophy, portfolio management team, portfolio objective, performance history, top holdings, and asset class and sector weights. The online edition also provides search capabilities via location, performance data and more. Hard and soft copy editions will continue to be published.
“In keeping with our goal of being a key resource for advisors, we are also sponsoring an ETF Managed Solutions Conference, another first for the financial industry. Advisors will hear third-party managers share how they select ETFs to use in a number of different strategies. We will also have abundant networking opportunities throughout the day so that advisors can meet TPMs to learn more up close about how the advisors can use ETF model portfolios for their clients,” said Thompson.
