The Music Has Stopped Playing For Ten WisdomTree ETFs

Yesterday was the last day of trading for ten WisdomTree ETFs. It was announced on January 29th that these funds would cease trading yesterday. Shareholders remaining in the Funds will have their shares redeemed automatically on March 29th and will receive cash in an amount equal to the net asset value of their shares as of the close of business on March 29, 2010.  WisdomTree claimed the closure of these ten ETFs was to create capacity for future growth initiatives, and because they believed it is in the best interest of their customers and shareholders to dedicate their resources to areas of greater client interest. WisdomTree CEO Jonathan Steinberg stated in the original announcement that, “We have no plans to make any further closures and are fully committed to maintaining and developing an innovative product line, including the introduction of new funds in the coming months.” The following is a list of the closed funds.
