Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Urges Caution On Leveraged ETF’S (FAZ, FAS)

buyer-bewareFINRA- The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has urged caution to the financial industry on leveraged and inverse ETF's.  FINRA warned financial brokers and advisers about their responsibilities to retail investors on how these inverse and leveraged ETF's are difficult to understand and are not meant to be held for long periods of time.

Following the closing announcement, the ETF trades for about a month. After that period, the ETF closes and all trading stops. At that point the fund company has a few weeks to liquidate

New Device Slows Heart Failure in Study (ETF: IHI, IYH)

defibA new two in one defibrulator tool for synchronizing heart contractions slowed the progression of heart failure when implanted in patients with few or no symptoms, according to a study that could expand use of the devices. The devices reduced deaths and medical treatments for heart failure by 29 percent compared with standard defibrillators, Boston Scientific, said yesterday in a statement.

U.S. Treasury Bond TLT ETF Continues to Climb

The iShares Barclays 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NYSE: TLT) continue to act well, suggesting equity traders might be getting increasingly afraid of something... and need to buy some safety.  Although existing home sales are showing some sign of life now, Mr. (Bond) Market does not seem to care.  The TLTs continue to climb off of last Friday’s pullback low at 90.11 and appear headed for a confrontation with the Dec ’08-present resistance line, now at 94.20.  A close above 94.20 will be a very bullish technical event near-term and will project the TLT to 96.60 next. Gold, Silver Rise as Sliding Dollar Revives Investment Demand

June 23 (Bloomberg) -- Gold rose as a weaker dollar revived demand for the precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver also gained. The U.S. Dollar Index, a six-currency gauge of the greenback’s value, fell as much as 1.3 percent after yesterday rising the most in a week. Gold, which earlier slid to the lowest in six weeks, typically moves inversely to the dollar. FULL STORY
